IMPROVING THE FUNCTIONAL EFFICIENCY OF TERMINAL AND WAREHOUSE INFRASTRUCTURE OF A RAILWAY JUNCTION
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The study objective. To substantiate the possibility of increasing the efficiency of the railway transport terminal and warehouse complex when using the free processing capacity of alternative terminal and logistics facilities located on non-public routes as well. The task to which the paper is dedicated. Improving the technology of distributing cargo flows between terminal and logistics facilities to obtain a synergetic effect from their joint use by reducing track congestion at adjacent railway stations, increasing rolling stock turnover, increasing predictability and compliance with delivery times, and improving the efficiency of the terminal and warehouse infrastructure of the railway junction. Research methods. The work used theoretical research methods, including comparison, analysis and synthesis, mathematical and simulation modeling methods, and the scenario method. The work novelty. For the first time, for a railway junction, the possibility of changing the place of cargo work is justified, taking into account the operation of terminal and logistics facilities in non-public areas. The study results. The influence of using an alternative infrastructure (terminal-damper) on the change in the parameters of cargo traffic elements functioning is shown. It is possible to ensure an increase in the available processing capacity of the station and terminal logistics facilities, the capacity of track sections and highways, and an improvement in the customer experience (cargo dealers) and performance indicators of railway transport. Conclusions: Improving the efficiency of the terminal and logistics infrastructure of railway transport is possible through the introduction of technology for distributing cargo flows between terminal and logistics facilities, which, in the context of changing cargo flows, will create conditions for adapting the processing capacity of terminal and logistics facilities and ensure the improvement of the parameters of cargo traffic elements functioning.
