The purpose of this paper is to reveal the methodological significance of productive imagination and hypothesis in the structure of scientific knowledge and to demonstrate their role in shaping the modern scientific picture of the world. To achieve this goal, the essence of productive imagination and its functions in the structure of scientific knowledge are defined, as well as the role of hypothesis as an important form of rational creativity and a method of scientific research. The relationship between imagination and hypothesis in the construction of scientific reality, the creation of scientific theories, and the development of scientific knowledge is also analyzed. The theoretical basis for this paper is based on research in the field of philosophy and methodology of science by Professor S.A. Lebedeva.
