Thomas Kuhn’s theory of scientific revolutions, originally developed to analyze paradigm shifts in science, provides a powerful tool for understanding the dynamics of labour stratification amid technological and social transformations. The contemporary digital revolution, like the Industrial Revolution of the 18th–19th centuries, triggers a crisis of legitimacy in traditional labour hierarchies, redefining the categories of “respectable” and “stigmatized” work. Innovations in artificial intelligence, automation, and the platform economy not only change the structure of employment but also transform the axiological foundations of how labour is valued, elevating digital professions and marginalizing routine forms of work. This process is accompanied by profound social consequences, including rising inequality, a reassessment of human dignity, and the need to revise education and social protection policies.
