The interaction of joint points of the tyre and the wheel center when connected with tension, resulting in thermal resistance, is described. When the locomotive brakes, there occurs a temperature gradient between the tyre and the wheel center, which can lead to the tyre movement. To study the effect of braking on the temperature gradient, comparative tests of two coatings applied to the rim of the wheel center using plasma spraying were carried out. Based on the results of the tests, it can be concluded that the use of PG-19M-01 coating according to TU 48-19-383-90 can reduce the temperature gradient between the tyre and the wheel center by up to 30%.
