This article examines the role of scientific and representative events held in educational institutions (universities) subordinate to the Federal Penitentiary Service, as well as the role of public organizations of departmental universities in educating employees of the penal system. Events and public organizations of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia allow for active involvement of employees in public activities, which has a positive impact on the performance of public service.
