The paper attempts to assess the dynamics of the spread of the use of specialists with higher education in the country's economy. For the assessment, statistical observation data and statistical survey data from conditionally large (with more than 15 employees) organizations were used. The share of employees with higher education and the amount of the education bonus, which was calculated as the excess of wages over wages for employees with secondary general education, were determined. The trends were assessed using econometric models. A trend toward an increase in the share of employees with higher education was revealed among those employed in the country's economy, among professional groups of managers and highly qualified specialists. Until now, the positions of managers and highly qualified specialists have not been completely filled by people with higher education. At the same time, there is a steady trend toward a reduction in the training of specialists with higher education in the country's universities. It was found that the maximum level of the education bonus is received by employees with higher education, excluding managers and mid-level specialists. This may be a consequence of the fact that the majority of the country's university graduates — bachelors — have an education that corresponds not to a higher, but to an average level of qualification.
