The article provides a brief overview of the evolution of domestic legislative activities and judicial practice in the sphere of digital currency transactions. It highlights anticipated trends in the growth of digital currency-related offenses. Consequently, developing law enforcement officers' competencies in investigating crimes involving digital currency as either the subject or instrument of illegal activity represents a pressing demand for modern policing systems. A sociological survey conducted among students at the East Siberian Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia identified priority aspects for specialized training. This informed the proposal of an educational methodology tailored to the target audience's needs. The innovative approach involves a masterclass incorporating interactive learning techniques: critical thinking skill development through analysis of "flawed" texts, problem-based mini-lectures and instructional video clips, operational training exercises, brainstorming sessions, case studies utilizing blockchain explorer functionality, collaborative development of roadmaps. To enhance the effectiveness of these methods, the author has developed a self-guide specifying target knowledge, skills, and competencies (section: "Atlas of Competencies"). This resource enables masterclass participants to independently formulate practical recommendations for conducting operational-search activities and investigative actions after completing thematic modules. The educational value of this methodology lies in its applicability across Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs training institutions for developing cadets' and students' professional competencies in combating criminal cryptocurrency trafficking.
