This article reflects the legal aspects of international sports. It also describes the responsibility of athletes and their coaches for violating anti-doping rules. In the context of digitalization and globalization, when a large number of new doping substances emerge that are difficult to detect during testing, the tightening of anti-doping measures and the issue of athlete responsibility become particularly relevant. This article examines the legal framework that regulates the rights and obligations of athletes, coaches, and other individuals, establishes anti-doping rules, defines doping control procedures, and provides sanctions for violating these rules. The legislative framework includes both international and national legal acts. For example, the World Anti-Doping Code, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, and others. The article emphasizes the importance of complying with the established rules, otherwise such principles as the principle of fair play, justice, the spirit of friendship, and solidarity will be violated. In conclusion, an example is given of what positive doping test results can lead to. The story of Russian figure skater Kamilah Valieva is told. The article concludes with the need for a comprehensive approach to solving the problem of doping in sports.
