The author substantiates both the socio-economic and budgetary-legal necessity of stabilizing the national currency exchange rate. The most popular ones (from those offered in scientific and socio-political discourse) are investigated ways to achieve this goal: 1) the concept of fixed exchange rates and 2) the concept of forming an exchange rate based on the value of a selected commodity equivalent. Attention is focused on the difficulties that may potentially arise in the practical implementation of these concepts, as well as on the shortcomings that become relevant if they are actually implemented. As a result, it is concluded that it is inappropriate to use these methods to ensure the stability of exchange rates.: Although they solve a significant part of the existing problems in this area, they generate new ones that are no less significant. The research used analytical, hypothetical-deductive methods, as well as the method of theoretical modeling.
