KW  Status and problems of health and safety training in Russian higher education institutions have been considered in this
paper. It is specified that for last 25 years from the moment of new direction introduction in the higher education system,
there were considerable changes
KW  and "Health and Safety" discipline has become the only obligatory professional one for
all directions and specialties related to higher education. A three-level system of training (bachelor degree
KW  magistracy,
postgraduate study and graduate military course) in a new educational direction "Technosphere Safety" has been created.
Factors which obstruct the educational process improvement are analyzed in the paper
KW  and measures directed on
improvement of educational process and training quality related to “Health and Safety” discipline in higher education
institutions are offered as well.
