Проанализировано современное состояние клинического применения протонной лучевой терапии (ПЛТ) для лечения онкологических заболеваний. В частности, рассмотрены показания к применению ПЛТ, результаты и состояние рандомизированных клинических исследований с ПЛТ по сравнению с фотонной лучевой терапией (ФЛТ), сравнивается стоимость одной фракции ПЛТ со стоимостью фракции ФЛТ. Основное внимание уделяется обсуждению результатов применения ПЛТ в CША, европейских странах и в России для нескольких распространенных локализаций опухолей. В заключении работы рассматриваются пути дальнейшего совершенствования радиобиологических аспектов ПЛТ, технологий подведения дозы и дозиметрического обеспечения ПЛТ.
