According to modern epistemology, the sensory level of scientific cognition is not a "reflection" 
of cognizable objective reality, but a process by which the scientific community constructs sensory scientific reality as a model of objective reality. This is achieved through the use of such cognitive methods as scientific observation, recording the effects of cognizable objects on experimental instruments, and determining the quantitative properties of sensory objects as possible cognitive models of cognizable objects. The purpose of this article is to conduct a comprehensive analysis 
of the process of constructing sensory scientific reality in modern science, its legitimization by the scientific community, and its subsequent use in practice as a reference reality for the most accurate assessment of the properties of objective reality. To achieve this, the following methods were used: a description of the mechanism for constructing the sensory level of scientific knowledge; 
an analysis of the relationship between sensory and rational knowledge in science; a historical 
and philosophical reconstruction and comparative analysis of case studies of modern practices 
of sensory cognition in science.
