This edition is a comprehensive study of the activities of the international terrorist organization «Islamic state». The authors analyze the history of «Islamic state» in the context of geopolitical confrontation between the different forces seeking to increase its influence in Syria. The paper is concerned organizational structure, tactics, participation of foreign fighters in the ranks of terrorist organization «Islamic state». The text deals with the efforts of the international community, including Russia, to combat it. The paper discusses the features of terrorist activities in the information space, including social networks, and problems of counteraction it. It is noted that the fight against the terrorist organizations need to unite forces of the entire world community. We must fight «Islamic state», using diplomatic, economic, law enforcement, financial, information, intelligence, and military instrument .
