The work deals with the institutional relations of the national economy and the electricity system as two interdependent units. According to the author should be considered their interaction in the process of economic development. Attention is paid to aspects such topics as institutional problems in the modeling of the interaction of the national economy and power, the theoretical basis of the creation of a particular model (the theory of contracts, theory of multiple interests), clarification of the classification of the institutions involved in the mechanism of interaction between the national economy and power, the goal of institutional modeling. The final result is the representation of institutional models, pointing to the complexity of the interactions of the national economy and power.

Дестабилизация финансово-экономических условий и трудности с привлечением дополнительных инвестиций предопределяют необходимость рассмотрения всех аспектов развития национальной экономики, в том числе процесса взаимовлияния экономики и электроэнергетической сферы. Стабилизирующая роль и значение электроэнергетческой сферы для общества не подлежит обсуждению. Электроэнергетическая отрасль является стратегически важной для национальной экономики. От качества работы энергетических объектов зависит функционирование практически любого предприятия. Эффективное электроснабжение влияет на экономическое развитие, научно-технический прогресс, стабильность жизни общества и др. Наличие больших запасов ископаемых энергоресурсов, определенные достижения в области сохранения и рационального использования энергии, активизация использования инновационных технологий, опыт использования регуляторов цен положительно влияют на энергетическую ситуацию в экономике страны.
Однако необходимо изыскивать новые базовые подходы для дальнейшего развития экономики разных уровней. Иными словами, в современных условиях в экономической науке и практике особое место должны занимать исследования, посвященные рассмотрению не только технико-технологических изменений, но и институциональных аспектов функционирования национальной экономики и ее отраслей. Глубокие и неоднозначные институциональные преобразования в электроэнергетике последних лет вызвали напряженность в обществе [1, 2]. Обычаи и традиции, бережное отношение к энерго- и теплоресурсам могут служить эффективным заменителем формально-правовых институтов, обеспечивая экономию ресурсов в электроэнергетике.
Взаимодействие национальной экономики и электроэнергетики имеет двустороннее направление. С одной стороны, состояние национальной экономики как системное образование положительно или отрицательно может влиять на развитие электроэнергетической сферы; с другой стороны, электроэнергетическая сфера как составная часть национальной экономики может либо сдерживать, либо ускорять ее развитие.
