The subject of the study is the conceptual approaches to sustainable development and the factors affecting the problems of their implementation. The purpose of the study is to identify the problems of implementing sustainable development concepts at the stages of the production chain through the prism of endogenous and exogenous factors using the analytical hierarchy method. The use of the analytical hierarchy method allowed for the quantitative confirmation of the priority of the identified barriers, the dominance of exogenous factors at the market stage and endogenous factors at the extraction stage, which necessitates the use of a differentiated approach to sustainable development management.
