This article explores the organization of “Conversations about Important Things” with primary schoolchildren on topics related to the Great Patriotic War. One such topic – teachers’ participation in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 and the primary education of children during that period—is examined in detail. The importance of such discussions for primary school children’s understanding of patriotism and how Russian citizens express their love for their homeland is emphasized. The article presents facts related to the Great Patriotic War that can serve as topics for “World Around Us” lessons and extracurricular activities.
