THE IMPLICIT DIALOGUE OF THE AUTHOR WITH THE READER IN THE DIACHRONIC ASPECT (ON THE MATERIAL OF ENGLISH FICTION)
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
This paper is devoted to a very important aspect of modern communicative studies – to fiction communication. The author of the paper deals with the implicit dialogue of the author with the reader in which the author of fiction narrative tells the reader the information about inner mental, emotional and physical state of characters. On the material of English narrative discourse of different time periods the markers of the implicit dialogue are revealed. They are viewed from the point of their diachronic changes. The most widespread markers of dialogue of the author with the reader about the character’s mental state are verbs and nouns denoting cognitive activity. The dialogue about the inner emotional state of characters is marked by verbs and nouns denoting feelings. The inner physical state of characters is described by inner organs. The implicit dialogue of the author with the reader is often supported by conceptual metaphors. It is stated that the inner state of characters is marked by the same language means in different time periods.
