The article examines key aspects of underwriting risk management in insurance organizations, defines the functions and stages of underwriting as a fundamental business process when concluding an insurance contract. It also provides a classification of risks that form the total underwriting risk by five groups of factors: human, methodological, regulatory, informational, digital. The result of the study is a typology of the total underwriting risk in an insurance organization, which reflects a detailed identification of risks with the definition of appropriate control procedures to prevent the implementation of a risk event.
