Physical therapy is a set of methods of treatment, prevention and medical rehabilitation, which are based on the use of physical exercises, methodically developed and specially selected. Indications for its use are determined by the ability of physical exercises to affect the entire body and change its functional state. When prescribing physical therapy, the doctor must take into account the nature of the disease, its features, the stage and degree of the painful process in organs and systems. Physical therapy is prescribed by the attending physician, and the training method is determined by a specialist in physical therapy. Patients should be informed that they should not start physical therapy on their own, as this may lead to a deterioration of their condition. The need to use physical therapy in routine medical practice in the absence of contraindications is due to a general improvement in physical condition during exercise, maintenance of muscle strength and balance, analgesic effect of exercise, preservation of joint and spine mobility, improvement of metabolic status, a positive effect on the psycho-emotional state and increased stress tolerance.
